Braised Mackerel






Gut the mackerel

remove fins and heads

cut into fingersized pieces

i discart the heads. some might leave them in.

First stirfry 4 chopped onions, 8 cloves of garlic, then add 4 spoons of sugar, 2 spoons of chili paste, or fresh chili,
a few spoons of ketjap manis and a spoon of  'strooi kruiden' (maggi)
Then add some water and let it boil for a while.
Add the pieces of mackerel and if needed some extra water.

Now let it simmer for about 25, 30 minutes on low heat
